Now, I'm usually not too shabby at multiplayer shooters, but I'm really struggling with BF1943 and I'm wondering whether it's lag/latency.

Last night for example, in a game against mostly US players, I sneak up on some grunt in a bunker - empty a whole clip into him (burst fire and crouched) and he turns round and caps me instantly.

Not an isolated instance either. Lots of 'dead on in the sights' shots that had no effect on the target. Also not helped by my conn dropping out half a dozen times which was telling.

Or maybe I just suck (probably).

Anyway, anyone else afflicted in this fashion?

Well, I'm about to throw the towel in on this. I am fed up of getting my ar*e handed to me everytime I play simply because my hits don't seem to be registering.

Example - lighthouse on errm... can't remember the map name.

To guys crouching in doorway, I sneak up, unload a full clip into them in burst fire - zero effect. They then cap me with one shot.

Same goes for the Coral Island air map. Despite accurately following planes with the right 'lead', in 10 rounds I managed 1 kill from shooting down and the rest just flying into people in frustration (and even then - I should have been missing them).

As I said, I'm not too shabby on COD4, WaW etc. but I can't hit the back end of a barn in BF1943.

Does it require super accuracy or something?!?!??!

on the loading screens there is a tip which says they have introduced recoil which if you unload a clip then the aim gradually rises due to the recoil effect. Maybe they have over done it..

It does feel more vague than COD4 but I cannot be sure as I cannot hit anything in either game smile

Nessiemac on pistonheads will confirm this as we were both in a tank and I got us both killed shoot

Yes, I know about the recoil which is why I burst fire - always have done as it's a habit that goes back to my Counterstrike days!

Unlike COD it doesn't show your ping (mine is usually 2 or 3 bars), so who knows?

I'm not sure if you are lagging or just not used to it. I was struggling to hit anything at first but can now take down a sniper on a hill a mile away with a Tompson.

Have you tried playing as a Rifleman and properly lining up mid range shots to see what happen? When I did this I found the collision detection to be spot on and it improved my scores very quickly as I got used to the game.

I have only experinced 'lag' once and it was really obvious as the enemy troops were glitching back and fourth in plain sight.

I notice a bit of lag from time to time, mainly when in a jeep. I have driven through people quite often without registering a hit. This is a tad frustrating!
