Have TVR lost the plot??
Discussion
OK - time for a provocative post.
now I dont neccessarily dislike the Sagaris, but I have to ask the question:-
How many models can TVR bring out at once?
Now I Love my Cerbie...but none of the current models are any sort of replacement. the Cerb is still the only 2+2, and the V8 AJP(Oh YES!)
I love the T440R(Typhon? thank god we have gone back to names) but TVR have delivered only 1!! - shouldnt they be concentrating on getting this project off the ground before they start with yet another shape car?
The Tamora paint was hardly dry when the T350 came out, now these two cars are sort of complimentary, but WTF is going on??? - heck TVR will still build you a Chim if you so desire....
Compare to Lotus, who have developed the Esprit and Elise to the nth degree. So hands up all you cerbie boys - who would buy a 2nd generation cerb with a race tuned AJP and facelifted styling?
I rest my case m'lud.

Totally agree. You made the point I was trying to make www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&h=0&t=71424, but more eloquently

And me: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=71517&f=13&h=0
But it helps if you regard most of them as concept cars that will never hit the streets.

Surely that's the benefit of hand building. They can cope with more variation than a robot line?
I hear you, and applaud them for artistic merit. BUT designs are not getting the chance to "mature". Also how many TVR owners are sat waiting for TVR to supply a spare part on low volume stuff?
The Sagaris seems to be a designers indulgence. If TVR feel the need to pen more designs then why not do a T350 GT with a 4 litre red rose S6 engine and new enhanced styling in line with the proposed race car?
The Cerb is nearly dead...Long live the king!

Isnt that *EXACTLY* what the Sagaris is though??
The Cerbera, hmm, perhaps with the Typhon now in place its time for the king to step down? Then again, for that to happen PW should launch the Cerbera GT
a 4.5 red rose based upon the Cerbera GTO - wide arches - less weight - perhaps the GT spoiler? The final Cerbera should be the meanest fire breather yet!! I would say, wait till the next motorshow for a new 2+2. At least a concept car will be displayed.
And forget about the AJP8. The AJP8 is dead, as there is no development work anymore, because it won't meet EURO 3 emission class.
It's also very expensive to pay for all the emission testing, so it's quite logical that TVR is concentrating on one engine.
What is wrong with a 500 bhp supercharged S6 Cerbera successor????
I'm pretty sure that we will see something very nice on the next Motorshow....
you know..."what is a Motorshow without a new TVR..."

I was under the impression that the Typhon, with 500bhp or 550 if PW manages it, IS the replacement for the Cerb.
After all...they can't make a car any quicker than 550bhp surely!!!!
The only problem as a Cerb successor would be in the price.....it's a hefty difference.
Still....mmmmmm...what a car.
As for another model at the next motor show.....no surely not.

It was inferred at MPH03, that there would be a Cerbie replacement in the next few years...
I was also told that the Typhon engine was producing 500bhp, but PW WANTED 550bhp...

Is the Cerb going to be replaced with a new car, or a design update? Personally, I think the Cerb's design (looks anyway) is as good as it can get, don't see how they can make it any better, so they have to come out with a new car.
Was chatting to a few people about this over a couple of beers at the weekend. The general concensus was: wider wheel arches, remodelled lights (again), and shave 6" off the back to put the wheels more at the corners. I'd probably take a look at the back end as a whole, and try to integrate the exhaust more with the bodywork (as in the T350), and stick a grille on the front, too.

Because it'd be missing 2 cylinders.
Seriously, I really do like the S6 engine - for The Tuscan, T350, etc. I think it's a perfect match. But for a big GT, it just doesn't feel right with less than 8 cylinders. I think the DB7 is a good example of this - totally abandoning the supercharged 6 cylinder model; even though (on paper) the statistics weren't *that* much worse than the V12 Vantage, it was just the wrong engine.
