Who would be the best candidate for FIA president?

Ideally someone with no interest at all in motorsport - so they leave it all to a revamped ( i.e. purged of Spanky sycophants ) WMSC. Someone who's primary interest is in the motor industry instead - Parry-Jones would be ideal.

Jean Todt whilst no doubt a good team leader would be one of the worst choices in a sport already riddled with acusations of bias. . . . . . . . . . so for me it's got to Vatanen, especialy after his interview last week

Said it before (boring - I know) but I still think Prince Albert would be a perfect president... Knows enough about F1, is well educated, has a sporting background, would be unlikely to be influenced or party to any undue influences and certainly not out to be bigger than his boots...

I'd rather see the FIA take a back seat and just administrate - appointing an expert in racing might just make them even more involved (meddling...)? They should be a service to F1, not 'dictating' in anyway at all IMHO.

Thats actually not a bad shout. Whether he'd have the willingness to deal with all the internal politcs is another matter. But the guy is a real motorsport enthusiast.


I can't see how Jean Todt can even be considered a candidate, purely because of his past involvement in F1! It's a conflict of interest if ever I saw one!

Jean Todt has always avoided TV interviews so he would most likely conduct his FIA business in private which would either a very good thing or a very bad thing.

Where????? Peugeot???? Believe they had a brief and unsuccessfull foray in F1 in the back of a Mclaren.......

They could make a come back I suppose, there were rumours of them buying Honda F1 back in December '08.

In which case he's hardly likely to show favouritism to Luca and the Ferrari's is he.

Not saying that Jean Todt is a better candidate, but Ari is now and has been a polictican for the last 10 years or so.

R P-J is a good call though.

Todt is an option but I am worried he like playing politics (as opposed to just being a politician) too much.

I have the toad down (in my head) as a nasty piece of work. To have him as FIA president would be a disaster.

Unfortunately I think max has done this out of spite of FOTA, and the toad will get the job, seeing as max will gift him all of the current cabinet

Unless a current cabinet member were concerned that Todt would lose, in which case that person would try to join Vatanen's ticket.

Yes he won the Paris Dakar, but he looked a little bit distant.
Im not saying he's "Hatstand" but he got a certain 1000 yard stare about him.

But what's in it for him ? Why would he seek to become president of the FIA rather than pursuing his interests in the science and technology role ?
