Range Rover - Towbar Value/Cost
Discussion
Gooday All,
I have a genuine LR towbar fitted to my L322 Range Rover Vogue.
I don't particuarly want it, and have been asked if I wish to sell it - anyone have any idea of what it is worth? and secondly how difficult it is to remove?!
LR said it was about £1200 when fitted new - I am glad I wasnt paying for it
Cheers

Easy enough to remove I think; just the rear bumper and the trim around the spare wheel area to let you get to the back of the fixings. I've been considering changing the towbar on mine to a different type but haven't done so yet.
You might lose the tie down / recovery D-loop on the RHS which from memory is either part of the towbar or a separate bolt on bit if a towbar isn't fitted.

One thing to bear in mind though - removing the rear bumper can be tricky. Particularly if you don't have the correct tools.
I started to remove mine when fitting the detatchable tow bar system to my car, and it proved to be a right royal pain. Eventually gave up and as the car was due for a service, I asked the indy service place to finish the job for me - he charged me £50 - money well spent in my opinion!

Note of caution....Like any tow bar, the big lump of metal is a reasonably simple mechanical fitting so skill with a socket set will see it removed/installed in reasonable order. The danger comes with the electrics. Not only risking damage to the doner car on removal, but needing to be properly integrated into the loom of the recipient otherwise it will screw up the self leveling suspension, the rear parking sensors will contiuously bleep when towing, etc, etc. Its all perfectly possible of course, just suggesting get it done by someone who knows....
