Hello,

I am considering purchasing a 360cs and wanted to get some first hand knowledge from owners who have owned or know the ups and downs of owning such a machine.

Its not the first ferrari i,ve had as previously have owned 308GTB, 512TR and a Lamborghini Murcielago.

What can i expect in regards to maintance, performance, comfort etc.

Cheers
Al

purchase some ear plugs is rule no.1

other then that; normal things to look out for;

brake wear
clutch wear - both available using the sd2 machine thingy
rear diffuser damage (£1200 for the pair) easy to catch on a speed bump
Milky Carbon in engine bay / mirrors
creaking suspension ball joints - front + rear
crash damage
correct tyres (non bmw star ones)
options - harness/roof lining/radio/fire ext/leather/cloth/

im sure others will be along to advise more....

Al I own a CS it is a fantastic car to drive and own.
The servicing costs are the same as the ordinary 360. Brakes are an expensive item come pad replacement you are looking at approx £1000 per axle and the discs are £2k each when they need to be replaced. When buying get a printout of the brake and clutch wear from an SD2/3 this is a good guide as to type of use the car has had.
The seats from new can be spec in different sizes I have the large carbon option and find them very comfortable (more so than the electric daytona seats in my previous Ferrari)and will have no qualms about doing a euro trip in them.
You must go and have a test drive they are brilliant and the noise when the valves open is just fantastic.
If you are near me you could come and see mine and I will happly take you for a blastbiggrin PM me if you like

Thanks for the Info, i should be talking one for a test drive within next few weeks or so.

Neil thanks for the advice and the offer will consider it if am around you area, cheers.

Also thanks for the scuderia link, alot of info there on the CS Model.

In regards to speed bumps are they able to go over them without scraping anything or is that entirely dependent on the bumps?

As for fuel consumption, what im i looking at?

Im looking for a used motor so wont have my own exact spec, so whats the must have options when looking around?

Cheers

Wow, costly maintance but i guess it will be worth the constant grin on face :-)

Theres a few 360cs floating around £75k - £105.

Is it a better idea to keep away from the higher mileage cars because it really doesnt concern me too much,
at least if the cars been properly maintained by a reputable garage.

hi there

pls dont be put off by a '53/04 car with 20k on the clock- i'd say thats average mileage for a 5 yr old car . buy on condition and service history. make sure you can verify mileage via service book and receipts. ppi and sd2 checks for clutch and brake wear are absolutely essential . neil has kindly copied and pasted all my info on numbers produced, colour/ options below biggrin so you have breakdown of that . the factory stripe is a rare option, most are after mkt.
speed humps are an issue and need to be approached at a crawl. my undertray has been repaired because of wear from the poxy things. i have fitted hill engineering skid pads which help a lot. as mentioned , ball joints , suspension and rear sway bar are prone to wear , listen for front/rear end clonking.headlamp units can mist up, the exhaust brackets can fail, driver/passenger door pulls rust and stop working , engine bay cf can lose sheen and go milky.
go into potential purchase with your eyes wide open.. the components are very expensive to replace ie cf badge in engine bay £600, cf airboxes £1200 a side , etc. Performance will be light years ahead of the older ferraris you owned . f1 box takes a bit of getting used to and reversing/exiting side roads is a mission if you have a car with harness option due to bad visibility. That said, you'll forgive the car anything the 1st time the valves open in RACE mode smile
Good luck with your search, anymore help i'm on here and www.clubscuderia.co.uk

Hi tony,

Thanks for the info, at least now when i go to view some cars i can with my eyes wide open.

In regards to the SD2/3 test where can i get this done, i pressume all ferrari dealerships do it and some garages.

Also what do you guys do in winter with your CS? Do you just store them or actually drive them.

I remember driving my Murcielago all through the year.

all main dealers will have sd2/3 , most decent indies will have sd2. i use mine pretty much all year round . Just be careful using RACE when tyres are cold biggrin

Expect a very loud exhaust, very hard ride (gave me back ache after a 30 ish minute drive (Im not that old either) and very noisy (no sound deadining so you hear every stone etc that hits the bottom of the car)....

you can also expect a total weapon when driving it; extremely fast, awesome brakes, very precise and great feel.

So it all depends what you are looking for; if you are a racer it is perfect ... if you are a cruiser/tourer then it is probably not the car for you!!
