I've got the standard one (either up or down) not the multi-position one. It'd great! smile

Mine has 3" travel, which has always been ample for me. I've been riding on it for the last couple of years, and there's 18 stone of me. The first one I had got stuck in one position after a few months, but they swapped it out under warranty immediately with no questions asked, and the second one has been perfect.

The ideal environment for this post is swoopy up & down singletrack. In those sorts of trail, I might end up dropping & raising the seat post every 50 yards or so, all from the comfort of the saddle.

I have the maverick one , with the remote
I think it's great for somewhere like the alps , but don't bother much in the uk
I think my one is now made by joplin
the only trouble is , they don't do 27.2 size (gravity dropper is the only one I know that does)
I have the 30.9 , and I believe they do one other size , so quite restrictive

Jesus, they've gone up in price - I paid about £160. I have one, and have to say they are an excellent purchase for AM stuff.

Positives

  • It's saved my neck on a number of occasions when following better riders - seat down I was able stop myself going over the bars.
  • Makes climbing easier - I have the highest setting on mine really high so that I'm in an almost road bike leg position.
  • Far easier than the hydraulic/pneumatic ones to maintain. Simply undo a bold and pull to bits, clean with oily rag, grease and re-assemble.
Negatives:

  • Heavy
  • Crap gets into the mechanism making it stick occasionally.
  • Silly money now it would appear.
  • Your mates will take the piss out of you for buying a gadget. The sidle up and ask if it;s any good or not hehe

I have had one for a year now, turbo model with 1" and 4" drop. Brilliant and I like the fact that its fully mechanical really reliable and my only gripe is the cable which points forward which I ten to sit on when standing over the bike.

Its cheaper to buy direct from them, good service and turns up in about 1 week.

Would have been ideal to have one of these for the Mega. But i do wonder if i could justify the (now silly) cost for the UK.

I got mine at $2 to the £1 still expensive for a seatpost but once you have one you will love it.

I justified mine on 'safety' grounds after going over the bars on landing a jump and forgetting/ too lazy to lower the the seat.

On that note, defintely get the remote as the non remote I have heard is a bit fiddly on rough ground and if you have to stop well that defeats the object of having it.

I've just realised that's for the "turbo" version. I have the normal version, which is on there for the "bargain" price of £199. I think I paid around £160 for mine a couple of years ago.

The difference between the turbo and non-turbo version seems to be whether or not you have to tap down on the seat to get it to move.

Personally, I'm not sure I'd want the turbo version. I'd be concerned about smacking myself in the nuts because I'd accidentally hit the lever with the saddle down! hehe

It's not happened yet, but the potential is there for some unfortunate person if you get it wrong
