Being the muppet that I am I dropped my camera whilst on holiday last month and broke it. Fortunately it was the last day of the holiday and I had purchased holiday insurance so I wasn't too worried about it.

Naturally the insurance company want all the usual information about the camera etc but have also said that I must submit a written quote to have the camera repaired. Now this is where the trouble lies, I can't get anyone to give me a quote! The only place that has said they will quote is Jessops and they want £25 up front just to quote for the repairs, something I would rather not do.

So my question is, where can I get a free quote from? I live in Birmingham so if there is somewhere local that would be preferred. Hopefully someone can help!

You'd think insurance companies would know that it'll be thrown away and a replacement issued. Repairing a point and shoot will cost three times more than the cost of the camera!

I claimed my D80 on insurance, and the insurers were fine to accept forum posts from (I think it was Nikonians) others who had similar problems.

Just so they knew I wasnt on the scam so to speak. Claim went through fine
