Tubeline extension to Croydon

This was supposed to be coming i about July 2011 but I've heard that due to the Credit Crisis this has been put on hold. Does anyone know the true story instead of these rumours I keep reading?

I think the government have had a re-think on it. Apparently it was deemed unfair to let the dregs of society travel from Croydon and inflict their stupidity and unfortunate looks onto other parts of London.

That may have been just a rumour though ...
