bluebird replica near Manchester
Discussion
Just seen on the Bluebird website that it has already done 10mph trials, that must be the original.

Come on guys...get real. That's a fibreglass replica if ever I saw one: it's never the original. http://www.bluebirdproject.com/Bluebirdproject/fra...
And where does it say anything about 'already done 10mph trials'? the 10mph surely refers to a local by law that forbids anything over 10mph being exceeded being lifted for Blubird to run next year sometime.

Reasons for it not being origianl? For a start, a pair of sponsons designed to stabilise a boat travelling at 300+ mph wouldn't be held on with couple of 3" square sections of - anything!
Secondly, a boat of Bluebirds weight would probably not be towed with a Range Rover!
And from what I've read, Bluebird is nowhere near completion.
Cheers,
It's a replica that's being taken to shows to drum up interest in the restoration and to help with the local tourist industry

Restoration of Bluebird was nearing completion in May and it had been allowed proving trials at slow speeds on Coniston Water, so is this the restored original not a replica? Without the front sponsons fitted for transportation of course.
Nope-it's the fibreglass replica built for the movie "Across the Lake" which is displayed in Holker Hall-the real deal won't be completed for some time yet-although the frame and hull structure are nearing readiness, theres still a million and one things to go yet-engine installation, steering, fuel system etc-perfection takes a while!

Cheers,
There is also a picture of what looks like a small flatbed lorry transporting Bluebird to Coniston.
