I was channel hopping this morning before going to work and came across some reruns of rising damp and I have to say what a comic genius Leonard Rossiter was as Rigsby, I have been sniggering to myself all afternoon over his antics and think its such a shame he died in the eighties.

I love the first few series of Rising Damp. I wasn't around when it was first broadcast and I actually started watching it when I was about 12-13 years old. Its a shame Rossiter died as was it a shame with Beckinsale. The cast were great, one of my favourite parts in the first series is with Rigsby hitting the spear on the floor with the tribal gear on with Philip and Alan nocking on the door. Watching poor old Rigsby try to impress Miss Jones was always great too.

Might have to dig up the old video tapes.

You should also watch the original series of The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin. So much better than the remake.

I believe they didn't get on off-screen, which is certainly not something you can pick up from watching them.

Rigsby trying to hypnotise Vienna always makes me laugh - "your eyelids are heavy, your paws are like lead"

I don't think he got on with anybody off screen, comic geniuses are often a pain in the arse.
