The parking sensors on both ends of my 2001 X5 have stopped working, there's one long beep from the back when you seect reverse but nothing after. The light on the button is flashing rapidly while it's doing this.

Are there any things I should check before sending it to the indy?

I think they're the same as the e39 I have: the long bleep indicates a fail somewhere, & that the system is off as a result. You probably have a failed sensor, the test for which is: with engine off & sensors on (selecting reverse will do that) listen for a rapid ticking at each sensor - quite high pitched, but you'll know it when you hear it. The dead ones don't tick. If none of them tick, there's a glitch with either a switch or the control unit. Saves dragging it to a dealer who'll get his laptop to do it...

One of the sensors on the back isn't ticking, I've popped it out and cleaned the connections with no change. I'll go to BMW on monday to get a new one.

Thanks for the help.
