Friends of a chap at work have had all keys to their old P reg Mk3 Golf stolen...the car has an aftermarket alarm and immobiliser fitted they dont know the make/model. The AA said they could open the car for them to retrieve belongings but the alarm would go off obviously. In my eyes the cost of an alarm guy coming out to shut the alarm up and by pass immobiliser and a new lock set and keys must be near the value of the car surely??? So hence the question `what would you do?` Anyone know anyone who could help?

The value of the alarm/immobiliser is probably greater than the value of the car, so even if it were going for scrap it would be worthwhile retrieving it to put on another car. More so if it is a Thatcham 1 approved system.
He might as well get in & have it done properly, otherwise he's got to sit there with the alarm going off intermittently until the battery dies.

Seal it to make it water tight then fill it up. Put it in the garden as a novel fish tank!

This is too late to help in this case, but might be useful to someone one day.

I had a chat to a local mobile car locksmith when he was working on a car down the road because we only had 1 key and he said he could make a key even if there there was no key there to start with for about £90.
