Just a heads up to the new cameras on the A46 both north and south bound at the Thrussington/Rearsby junction. Still covered but someone was tinkering with them yesterday so will probably be live soon.

st st st and st.

What sort of camera?
Specs or 'just' a normal lone camera?

On the straightest bit of road, too.
Mind you, that junction has had some bad accidents.

Not Specs just a stand alone on each side of the carriageway.

As bad as that junction is, the central reservation should be closed.
The number of times I've shat myself whilst watching cars pull out across the flow of fast moving traffic.....

thanks for the heads up. I use the cafe on the northbound, just past the Thrussington turning and in my experience there seems to be a 50/50 split between accidents at the cross rounds and also accidents on the southbound where the Little Chef/Travel lodge is.

Personally I've always thought that junction should be a roundabout to stop the ton plussers down there.

Thanks for the info.

This really winds me up furious

I was coming past this junction when they must have started work putting these up a few weeks ago. I saw all the roadworks signs then 1 lane all coned off, and I thought to myself, hooray bounce they're finally going to do something with this dangerous bit of road to make it safer & better, just like the stretch of the A46 from where the DC currently finishes & beyondclap

But to hear they've got with the money grabbing route instead of the saving lives idea fks me right offrage It's so obvious what the thought process behind this idea was as well "oooh how can we make that dangerous junction safer? Shall we spend some money to make it safe or try & make some money instead and pretend we've solved the problem?"

s rage

its about time something was done there to be honest, i go over to thrusington abit and i refuse to cross that junction, its just to dangerous, speed camera's will obviously slow people down but there will still be accidents.

it either needs a bridge putting over if or just closing completly

Couldn't agree more yes

Speeding has very little to do with the problem here, the next smash that happens there will still or so and still be at 70mph or so and make a right bloody mess

soapbox speed cameras do not save lives, proper road planning & maintenance will
