After 10 years of commuting into the city every day I've had enough. I quite
fancy trying to find someone who'll pay me for doing some development work
from home, but I don't really know where to start looking, has anyone got
any suggestions?

I'd be quite happy to do fixed price work, or whatever really.

Thanks.

www.jobserve.com would be my starting point. Good luck in the current market.

I know about all the usual recruitment web sites but I've never seen anything
advertised like I've described, but there must be something out there surely.
It's just knowing where to look I reckon.

I do see them come up from time to time for PHP, so I assume it will for Java too. I'm sure they are few and far between and hotly contested though!

My tactic would be to land an on-site role and try to work it towards being partly home-based once they know your value as a resource.

The problem is that unless you have some specialist knowledge you will look very expensive compared to the rentacoder bods available in eastern europe (where you can get good quality) or china or india.
