... very, very frequent?

Anyone think that the incidences of lightning storms has increased in England in recent times?

When I was a kid, it seemed like they were an annual event. If that.

Now, it seems like it's every few weeks. And not limited to a one-off storm either.

Our houses are so filled with electrical goodies these days, I'd dread a strike.

Or is my perception just altering the reality?

I used to remember mega ones as a child.

Now they seem a bit pathetic.

I used to live up north (for 4 years)and I remember some pretty hefty storms. I've been living down south (still up north for you londeners!!) for 17 years and there hasn't been anything particularly special. Of course I may have missed a few but if you ask me, they aint what they used to be!!!

I remember as a small child in the 70s of ones that were so epic you thought your house was going to fall down and germany were trying to invade again, now we have ones like a cheap chinese firework, pfft and gone.

When was the last time we had a proper hurricane? Over 20 years ago now.

There seem to have been a few more in the past couple of years, but like others- I remember some really biiig ones as a kid. Maybe it's just that once we start working we have less time to sit at the threshold watching it rain?
