Hi I have recently been contacted by two firms asking to use my pictures, I am quite happy to do so but I was wondering what the copyright was on that?

Some have been taken with owners permission and others on public grounds at events.

Also out of interest what would be a good price to charge for them? Appearing on websites and flyers so they will be quite publicly distributed.

Copyright of the photos lies with the photographer and stays as so unless you come to some arrangement. Usually the copyright stays with you but you 'sell' them a licence to use the photographs and list how/when/where/how long they can use those images for.

It's up to you to decide what you are going to charge for the uses they have specified.

A good starting point may be the NUJ site:

Of course a lot will depend on who is asking to use the photos and how much money they have for this sort of thing. You can always start high and come down!
