Like a demented "Hammer Time". And, have you read the comments on it?

I'm pretty sure the Greeks have something equally silly, but in skirts, if anyone wants to dig it up...

Not as silly as the OP but they have the advantage of wearing curly toed slippers.

You want to see the size of those Greek guards !
They obviously pick them from the largest lads they've got. Most are well over 6 foot !

Presumably based originally on British Army ceremonies and exaggerated over the years.

What have we done????

That border ceremony was comical to watch, but no matter how utterly Python it looks, you have to admit their drill is pretty punchy!

I've seen this before - it's not exactly a military march, it's a tourist attraction, done for entertainment. smile

It's not surprising - it's an exaggeration of British drill. They've taken what they've seen from the occupation by Britain hundreds of years ago and played with it.

Surprised you've not seen the high leg thing though - head southwest a bit to Peru and you'll love the high kicks biggrin

That's actually pretty impressive breath control - running in formation whilst playing in a brass band!
