I'm going to go down the composite tillett seat route when I can afford an R400, but i think I must have a funny shaped a*se or something because I find myself slipping down the seat.

1) Has anone else had this problem?

2) Is there a fix for it with foam or something like it?

3) Are there any other lightweight seats around that are a different shape? (I looked on the Tillett website and they offer a nice reclined one but I think it's only suitable for 5 or 6 point harnesses and I'm not sure what it would be like with reach for steering wheel and pedals).

Any suggestions?

You could try the seat pads from either Oxted or Reverie which are around £120 a set to cover both seats. In addition to providing a bit of grip, they stop your backside from freezing if you go out on a cold day

Or you could go for a bag seat?

Are you using 6 point harnesses? If I'm just pootling about I don't bother with the crotch strap & will slip down. On track or on a full on blat I'll do it up, that does the job.

ETA you can also alter the angle the tillet sits at by adding / removing washers to adjust to your ideal angle, this should help too.

OK, so you can get 6 point harnesses for caterhams then? Any links?

What are bag seats?

If I were to tilt the seat back, would I just adjust the pedals back to retain easy reach of everything.

I take it all of this has been done MANY times before, so asking novice questions haha.

Caterham and Willams will do harnesses for you.

On the subject of seats I know of a very nice new Tillet B4 for sale, unused with a slight mark on the undeside. mail me if your intrested.

Bag seats are basically a bag filled with expanding foam that mold around your body shape, mostly seen in racing circles.....they are a great fit but do not last particularly well.....but they are cheap to make, about £40 in materials.

Steve Tillett is getting very expensive these days. Reverie stuff is very good, but they charge accordingly!

I tilted my tillet up with washers at the front and didn't need to adjust my pedals, but it's all going to depend on your bodyshape and your pedal setup - try it !

It's a be-atch of a job though, at least on mine!

Wow it looks like there's lots of options. I'll just search back onto this thread when it comes to buying the car. Best thing, i guess, is that you don't just have to put up with slipping down the seat. I drive an MX-5 at the moment, will drive the Caterham as my everyday car, and really don't see it being that less practical. Thanks guys - and gal.
