I want to loose a bit of weight and get fit again. I did 2, 3 mile runs and that was it, my legs were crippled from the shinsplints but even worse my lower and mid back was painful. It took about 2 weeks for my back to feel right again but only 3 days for my legs to feel better.
I have read a few threads here and asked people at work that run and have come to the conclusion that i have the wrong shoes. they were £20 odd reebocks and that is all i know about them. I got them in littlewoods in the sale as the boy said they were ok for running, ( i know ) ....

So, i live in catford SE6 but can access London pretty easily on my day off. Can anyone please point me to a shop or 2 that does all the measurements i will need? i want to talk to people that know what they are talking about and not a sunday boy.

If i can get past the injuries at the first hurdle i know i can make a go of this. I even have a thing on my iphone that tracks my course and speed etc. I enjoyed it before despite the injury but 500 meters in i was pushing myself past my cheap shoes. I don't mind paying for shoes that do the job either.

As many suggestions as you can for shops would be brilliant, i will leave the sales pitch till after i know which sort to buy.
Many thankssmile

Hi mate
Please be careful when you get your shoes not to try and push up the mileage too quickly. Try and write a programme for yourself which gently increases the mileage every couple of weeks. It is a worthwhile investment in time as you will find your body adapting quite well if the stress is introduced gradually.
