I have nothing but dislike for BT. If you want a company that actually answers the phone in person, and they remember who you are, try Metronet www.metronet.co.uk/adsl/paygo

Agreed!

Keep the BT modem if you are using it and go to a better/cheaper service!

I used to use metronet years ago, they exanded too fast like many in their time and lost their way a little on the customer service front. glad to see they are back on form.

Another good one which I now use and have done for 2 years is www.zenadsl.co.uk/

I fell for the hype and switched our company to BT about 6 weeks ago. Nothing but aggro since. That plus the duplicate bills trying to charge me twice for an incompetent service that I have told them I am not paying for even once, till it's fixed.

You have my sympathies Jess...

I'm on BT and everything seems fine here WE were on BTInternet for 4years previous and all was fine then as well

The only thing is I'm not sure of the billing, my dad pays it and I'm almost positive we didn't get our free month like we were meant to but Dad won't say

I use AOL broad band and I think AOL is very good. Been with them a few yrs now, broad band about two months and no problems at all. I log on the web at 7-8am and log off around 10-11pm. There customer care is great too, very helpful. I used to be with BT and there SH*T.

How very strange a AOL customer saying other services are bad

AOL, in a technical manner, are terrible. No offence meant, but AOL are perfect for people who don't know much about computers or similar. AOL are not the way to go for the slightly more "heavy" user!

I have AOL Broadband too, and have had it for over 2 years I think! It is good, although I would be reluctant to call their customer care great! Its variable, if you get someone who knows what they are talking about it is great, but if you don't you might as well hang up and dial again. However at least its a free call!

The mystery I don't understand is that I thought that mist of the ADSL network is supplied by BT anyway, so why is some so crap and others so good? At work the ADSL line is BT and its dire, drops with remarkably regularity. At home I can only recall losing the line once!

For the single people out there I found my wife through AOL. So get there internet connection and find yourself a free wife!

BT provide the connection, not the network you connect to

P.S. No such thing as a free wife

I'm on BT Broadband. No problems whatsoever, I actually find the modem that's crap, not always recognised when I transfer the modem to the laptop running XP and start it up. Although it's better when connected to the desktop PC, although that's because it's never really turned off.

I have to agree, I don't know a great deal about computers, i wish I did. But I'm still happy with AOL

As a provider of webpages AOL are fine. As a provider of data capabilities they are very poor.

Our BT Broadband is fine too. And quite an improvement on our old Pipex Dial account!

That said, though, I had the misfortune to have to ring for technical support while I was setting it up - bad bad bad.....
