I'm trying to find a castle or cottage that'll sleep 6 adults and 5 kids over the New Year in the Highlands (pref) or south/west Scotland.

It seems the credit crunch hasn't affected peoples ability to have a good New Year as most of the places I've tried are booked up.

Anyone point me in the right direction or have any recommendations?

Thanks.

http://www.uniquescotland.com/

We rented a cottage in Glen Affric last year (just the two of us), but they do a large range of accommodation for any number of guests.

Recommended.

Norton House Hotel, converted stately home on the outskirts of Edinburgh, great Hogmanay 2 night package, have been a few times and really enjoyed it, about £300 for 2 night all in. we even hired the full kilt set, went a couple of years ago and took a party of 15, great fun a great 4* hotel which i understand is even better now they have added a spa. not sure how old your kids are but would suggest not suitable of u10's

have a look at the hotel and new years packages

hope this helps

Thanks Simon, looks a great place and there are rooms available.
The kids going are aged 8,7,7,5 and 3 so I'm not sure it's a good place for them.

Think we'll have to try self-catering cottages.

I tried to get a place over the new year in bonnie Scotland but came up against the same problems. Most places were fully booked (this was back in March) and the ones that wernt were an absolute fortune.

We have booked Vegas instead now, £350 direct BA flight to LA, stay there for 1 night then drive to Vegas. 5 nights in Vegas is costing us £150 each at the Circus hotel.

Just seemed like a better deal (given where we are actually going), although a castle in Scotland would have been cool....
