Last night, was out and about. Saw this just after it happened. Could tell from the wreckage that nobody could have survived.

I know the stretch of road well, and it is just that... a stretch of road, straight, 2 lanes in places, good visibility, 40 or 60 limited (40 where they crashed).

No way were they doing 40, or anything resembling 40 to have lost it caused this much carnage...

Obviously RIP the lot of them.

Accident happened between The Runnel and Boathouse Lane as shown in the above.

Ouch. Vauxhall I'm guessing from that picture? And not much tread on that front tyre either...

Looks like a Corsa B or Tigra to me.

Looks like it was probably going way too fast for the road. RIP.

Yeah, it is a Tigra - not that its awfully obvious from the picture.

3 youngsters and a friends mum who had begged for a lift home. Poor bd, mourning 3 mates and his mother.

Tyres appear to be unmatched also.
However, we shouldn't speculate in these circumstances.
Just consider it as a reminder to look to our driving and the condition of our cars.

I thought that mate, and also thought that one of them doesnt look to be in the best condition either.

I'm quite a morbid person, and can never help myself from doing a bit of digging...

Says he is into cars and interior mods and drives a Rover 214. So maybe it wasn't even his car?

Obviously it is hardly concrete but I know someone who knew the driver...

Also, hardly concrete again http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2543261/...

Has it broken in half? Appears to a segment stuck into the tree and then the front end on the road

My grandparents used to live just over from there. How on earth did they manage it, that roads pretty much straight?

Ive purposefully refrained from any such comment. The only thing I will say is that there is no way they were doing 40. It would appear he wasnt in his own car, too fast... the drink/anything else story will come out in time if applicable.

But yes, the road is very straight.

sometimes the evidence suggests one thing the truth is another. In my case it was me in a sports car vs a white 1.8 diesel escort, neither facing the original direction after impact and without witnesses it would have appeared my fault. Hope to god it was something other than I suspect if only for the passengers families

Been looking for a thread on this.

I knew John and Ed, Ed was in my tutor group at the high school. John was in the year above, he was a nice guy and had a load of friends. I didn't know the 2 girls.

My mate lives on the Runnel about 100 yards from where it happened, he was out when the crash happened, and told me what he saw when he got back an hour after the accident... we didn't realise what/who had been involved or what had happened.

Apparently there is a big pothole in the road which could have been a contributing factor, there are also other bits of information which I don't really want to chuck out onto here before a full investigation is carried out.

Its a massive shock to everyone I know, I only saw Ed a couple of days ago. RIP guys, you will be sorely missed frown

Originally I thought a car had pulled out of the Runnel and made them swerve, but the lack of witnesses would suggest otherwise.

Also, I thought 4 people in a Tigra wasn't the best of ideas... I suppose thats what they are built for though.

That was my immediate thought, there'd need to be some significant speed and/or driver error to cause such an accident. Even if someone did pull out, still for too much speed involved.
