I watched, with disgust, the debacle of Porto where Andy P had to drop back, and back, and back, to let Farfus through. I watched as my favourite Rydell had to drop back to let Muller through then I turned it off as I was not best pleased.

I toyed with the idea of Brands but then decided against the 4 hour drive to watch something like this happen again.

We were only half way through the season when team orders were applied and I don't know how this is accepted in the WTCC so early?

Basically , there isn't any point watching it now or supporting any of the drivers as they're not allowed to race in the WTCC. It goes to show the short sighted view of the teams when they stop some of their drivers getting points (they would still be taking them from the opposition) and putting their eggs in one basket. How many points did Muller get at Brands?

I'm just so annoyed by it as I loved it before now. So many of the worlds best touring car drivers in one series is magic. Just a shame the whole season is decided on a couple of early races....

I have always wondered with team orders in racing, whether there is any betting on the races - if so does the bet stand or is it declared null and void? Does it amount to 'match fixing'?

WTCC and DTM are similar in the way you have two or three Manufacturers deciding the outcome via team orders.

I know this isn't good for the fans, yet having worked in this sort of environment with manufacturer money you are blinded by this and do whatever it takes to get one of your men and them team at the top of the tree by the end of the season! Sporting or not this is just how it is!

Mybe there's a better way of doing this? look at Aussie V8's... still only 2 manufacturers very little if any team orders. I think a lot can be learned from this series business model and regulations and the way they're written!

DTM is disgusting. Those teams are supposedly independantly run but clearly factory affiliated.

WTCC has an excuse because those are factory teams.

V8SC seem to let the teams get on with it without mnanufactuer interference. FPR and 888 easily co-exist withou silly team orders.

I must admit I've lost interest in the WTCC and DTM through this sort of thing, but I don't think it's anything new. I'm sure it's been going on in sportcars / GTs for ages, what with factory teams and semi-factory teams. Shame, but I guess he who pays the bills calls the shots at the end of the day. I'd agree that the Aussie V8s don't seem to suffer from it.
