Front air scoops blocked .

Been looking at the front air inlet scoops and they are partialy blocked only allowing air in at the ends , i assume these only feed into the heater airbox , there does not appear to be any air feed to the front brakes , has anyone modified these to allow air either to the brakes or duct it into the engine bay . thanks Simon.

Correct - airbox only.

Remove one or two and point them into the tunnel for the tunnel cooling mod.
I think quite a while back Obes (no longer the car owner) split or re-routed them to the front brakes.

did a search on them but could not see anything , i,m sure Yellowshed mentioned something about them when i went to see him but i cannot remember !!! wonder what they do on the race car ??

They are blanked off on the racecar, and my road car.

Ok Adrian , any particular reason for blocking them off ?? do you not have any issues with brake temps ?? or do you route air in from somewhere else ??

so with Adrians comments and the Reveria photo i,m guessing the aero gains with blocking the vent off outway the cooling needed for the brakes ect !!! my only concern is wether i will get enough air flow through the center openning as i,m planning to fit also engine and gearbox oil coolers as well ??

due to the size of the brakes and the light weight of the car I cant imagine the brakes needing extra cooling even on track.

Enough air flow through the center opening..... for what purpose ?

Hi simon,ive got the car that noble guy said about with the vented discs.seems to me its a very easy mod and does cool the brakes a bit, will take some pics asap so you can have a look. By the way gearbox is fine. Steve

Thanks Steve , good news on the box ....will look forward to seeing the pictures . looks like i will have to take the engine out as i have a TDS to fit as well !!! and want to fit a front oil cooler as well !!! something tells me the winter is going to be busy !!!

that really is about as good as a chocolate teapot, to cool the brakes you would need a nozzle pointing at the centre of the disc.

not our race car, but that angle shows the disc perfectly, that hose is pointing at the egde of the disc and the wheel, it may stop the wheel warming up but won't help cool the disc, to work it has to point at the middle of the disc where the air is sucked in.

Ok , understand , guess the best way would be a tapered nozel pointing directly into the air inlet of the disc . any photo,s available of what you guys have done ?? Simon
