Another run you're not going to ride Neil?
Moony did a good job on the physcological games in Oz
Whats that I'm sorry? The run I couldn't be arsed to do as I fancied enjoying the sunshine and watching the others complete their first Mega, and yet for the last two years I've competed in and beat all their times in my 2nd year?Moony did a good job on the physcological games in Oz

The run which I managed to compete without a chain on my first and run round 15 minutes more quickly than yourself?
The runs in which I've not even had a chance to train for (nor ride a bike for 4 weeks) yet still able to post decent times (ones which put me in the Top 20 of my class)?
Moon did incredibly well, at least he actually bothered to try and put a decent time in, instead of using the old "I'm going to enjoy the ride and dawdle round" in order to mask up an absolute lack of ability...
Hell, least he even bothered to try the Oz DH race...
I wouldn't poke those buttons mate, unless you're prepared to take the hits back

I'm prepared to take the jibes, but not from someone who talks the talk but doesn't walk it...

Is seems to be more trail centre than DH.
Mind you the DH trail isn't very technical, just pretty brutal physically.
I spoke with some of the locals about this and they're very excited about the trail; as you say, the DH is insanely tough on the body, and they're chuffed to have something with some length and flow.Mind you the DH trail isn't very technical, just pretty brutal physically.
It remains to be seen if it makes classic status, but they were fairly happy with the technical difficulty, so expect it to be slightly harder than the average trail centre difficulty...

Nope, not one for me! Looks good when its on dirt but I just dont get the point of making trails out of more and more boardwalk. I hated it before the accident purely because I think theres nothing to gain from it and its lazy trailbuilding. Its fine for covering short sections where its boggy or unrideable, but that red route has massive sections of it for what reason?mk1fan said:
All I'm saying is that when push came to shove in the quali you cracked first. I knew Moony was sandbagging
Really.
So:
Missing a rear mech, chain and any form of propulsion (again) I still managed to beat a third of the field and post a 37 minute time. At the time my rear mech was lost, and I'd dropped my chain twice (feckin Black Spire) I still had Moonie in view on the fireroad; Once the rear mech/chain went, I had to freewheel/scoot, having been at the side of the trail whipping off the rear mech/chain for about 5-6 minutes...
How was the qualifier for you with your chain, rear mech and all that dedicated training?
Until you can walk the walk, I'd not talk the talk...
So, Moony was in front of you when the bike broke?
Did he whisper through the wall each night in a Dr Lecter stylee 'Smash the rear mech on a rock.'? I can't spell that sucking in air noise he makes. It certainly worked for me when I did it to Vanners.
My dedicated training took the form of religious curry eating and painting of ceilings. The curry eating helped a lot as the extra padding helped fill in the gaps of the body armour. I don't think the painting gave any benefit.
And Qualifying was awesome, brilliant, THE reason to ride a mountain bike. The race was, mheh.

He was after my chain dropped off - we both got a stellar start without any problems. Only I ended up with a fairly terminal problemMk1Fan said:

And therein we have my reason for not being too bothered about riding the race (as I wouldn't have been in the mass start)...As it is, shame you wouldn't have been riding the qualifier quickly enough to see how the trail really flowed at speed...

Gentlemen,
you appear to be making a mess....
Its all about going for a ride, trying to stay reasonably upright and then having a beer afterwards, non?
Either back on topic or thread closed pleased.
Fort Bill track looks good, would be wicked to ride with Chris and vanners up there in a few weeks but even with my levels of drive to bike commitment (morzine in a weekend anyone?) i think its a bit far from Bristol!

I actually thought the race was awesome too.
Brilliant mix of different conditions from top to bottom. Great weather, the van in Alp d'Huez with the hookers in it. Brilliant. More races should be like it.
I'd be tempted with doing the other MA in South America too as that sounds just as mad but with the added benefit of diarrhoea.
Maybe a 2010 Pistonheads holiday? You can watch Moony race.

Oh and whats this about hookers in a van?
Morzine was a bit wet when we left it. The trails were good all week but it rained lightly each night. Then heavily on Thursday night - great thunder and lightning show, much better than the fireworks off the Pleney - and through Friday and Saturday.
Trails should hold up though if the raind stops. They were in good nick before the rain.
