I'm getting a metallic scraping noise coming from the back on the car up to about 20mph... it gets worse as i go around corners so i'm guessing it's the diff... has anyone experienced this?

I had the same problem, however mine only made a grating sound when turning at very low speed. Fix was a change of the diff oil, 250 all in from a dealer.

My M3 was doing this, got worse if i drove the car hard or turning quickly, turned out the NSR disc dustplate was bent and catching the disc when it got warm and expanded

Yes I had that on my Z4mc at 19k miles. There is a tsb about it, they change your diff oil and it goes away, its like a rubbing vibration. I asked about it on here and did a post on it ages ago, January or Feb I think.

Mine was done under warranty.

There was a problem that required changing the diff oil or adding something to it. Prior it would grate/grind at low speed. Cost to get it done at dealer if its out of warranty is about £80.

Likewise although the dealer changed mine FOC. And the bloody noise eventually came back again a few weeks later!

Sounds bad but I don't think it's a big problem.

I had a quiet scraping noise at low speed - only noticed it when in a covered carpark with windows down.

Turned out it was a rear broken coil.
I don't think I want to know what it was scraping against......

Just thought I would update you on this....

Sent the car into BMW a few months ago with this issue, they changed the diff oil. The noise went away for a few weeks and then returned (although not quite as bad)

Took the car into BMW this week and they opened up the diff to find it had started to break apart. Fixed under warranty 5 days before it runs out, lucky escape!!....i think i will be extending!!
