Hi all,

Been looking around for Diesel cars, and got shown a Jag today. I think it was an X Type 2.0D, panther black. I have to say, me and the missus was pretty impressed with it inside.

I have a question though regarding the Sat Nav, are they upgradable to current routes? I note from my Ford ST 220 Sat Nav that they are not upgradable, and in all honesty, a Tom Tom would be a much better sat nav.

Also, what kind of MPG can I expect from a diesel Jag?

Also i noticed from reading another thread that some of these have in-built entertainment center. What is this exactly and are they hard to come by?

Finally, I've always thought that Jags depreciate very quickly, is this still true?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Have you seen the news? Jaguar are pulling the plug on the X-Type. Prices are only gonna go one way. With that in mind, don't recon the satnav will be supported anymore. The new Jags will be leaving the DVD systems. You didn't say what model yr you were looking at?

Hi Paul,
I sold my jag 2.0d a few months ago, sold it for exactly same price as i paid for it with sign writing on for my remapping business and yes it was mapped.
Fuel economy was around 40mpg when i bought it and went up to 49mpg regardless of how it was drove..
Remap makes them drive sooooo much better at lower rpm..

Cheers for that. Was looking at the X type Diesels, not sure which model exactly as im not familiar with Jags, something Met Black with half or full leather seats, and im planning to buy for a 5-6 year purchase as a family car. Were stuck between the Jag & a Focus, luxury vs practical, lol. My ST220 is costing too much to run at 25mpg!!!

Im not really a car person, so don't know too much about re-mapping, does that increase MPG in the Jag, and could it do it for a ST? or is it just a performance boost?

It's a really good idea for a diesel model but get it done by a reputable operator.

As you say, sat nav is an irrelevance because tom tom will be better anyway, then you are not worried about updating CD's etc. Check out one or two of the other threads on here particularly the chap who wished he had bought one with more of the options. It's worth taking time to think about it and look round.

Autologic offer a upgrade package for all the Jaguar diesels and it does work, giving a better fuel consumption and increased power .I know it works because we have carried out the upgrades with our equipment.Good value for money product and don`t be put off by high mileages!
