Another Ring Trip
Discussion
I've asked before and no ones been interested but I thought I offer again. Off to the Ring again on the 19th Sept (early!) and returning on the 21st (Late). It's open all 3 days so should get a few laps in if anyone wants to tag along... Taking the ST220 as want to do quite a few tours and get comfortably below 9 minutes and dont mind abusing that car. My old 320d sports going along with a C4s Porker and a S/C FTO so far. Hopefully a sorted VX220 turbo will come to. Will be staying just down the road so only 5 minutes to the ring itself.
Costs - Chunnel about £50, Hotel about £50/night then just beer and petrol money.
PM me if your interested.

mel do some track time in the ro before you go, seriously, you wont regret doing a few track days. You realistically need to know exactly how the car handles and on the raod you dont get to know the limits
^^^^^
WHS
Remember that this isn't the relatively safe straight line stuff. Get it wrong entering a bend and the minimum you'll be looking at is the cost of a new Ro - your insurance will probably state not covered on nurburgring - mine does (A Plan).
Not trying to scare anyone off the trip, but just be aware and be safe.
safe
folks. Guys - the ring is relitively safe to drive on so long as you take your time learning it. IMHO its alot better than the short circuits you can drive here, less stress on the cars brakes and more involving. Also where else do you get to see every type of exotic car going in one area! Its not just about driving fast to prove something, its about the area in general. Id suggest every petrol head does it before they outlaw it on H&S grounds etc.
BTW the worlds fastest roller coaster is there as well now!

Unfortunatly we won't be able to join you as were in Spain that week.
Another friend and myself are looking to go to the rin some point next year when things have calmed down this year, She has a pretty little Alfa 3L V6 gtv.
Enjoy yourself Mel
(And the rest of those that go obviously)

(And the rest of those that go obviously)Mel, nice thought but it is unlikely that we will be able to make it for one reason and another... I had considered taking my track day car to the ring last year but never got round to it
... However, as some have already pointed out and from personnel experience, get the Ro around your nearest circuit on a track day (if only for one session) before you do the ring... You will be surprised how differently a car handles on a track compared to the road as you will find yourself pushing it to the extreme limits once you have a few laps under your belt (also, the ring is a long circuit for a newbie to track days). A track day is where you will find out where the Ro will bite you in the ass if anywhere, not to mention any weak points on the car that you might not even be aware about... Having said that, track days are fun and addictive and once you've done one you wont go back to the 1/4 mile again
... If you do decide to do a track day, go for an “open pit lane” and not “sessioned”. With open pit lane days you can relatively choose when to go out when least traffic is on track...
