A few weeks ago our 2002 S60 T5 seemed like it needed a re-gas as the climate control was failing to cool the car down. I haven't got round to getting that done yet and it has now started to exhibit another problem, which is that when I return to the car after being out of it for some time, the heater fan is still blowing. Obviously if this carried on overnight it would potentially flatten the battery. When you turn the ignition on then off and remove the key it then switches off. Any ideas?

The air conditioning system does this as part of normal operation - it's to dry the system out which helps prevent odd smells developing.

It can cut in anything up to an hour after parking and run for up to half an hour IIRC. It should be controlled so it won't kick in if the battery voltage is below a certain point. If you leave it for longer than that and it's still running, then something might be up.

It's quite a powerful blast, too, I remember doing some work in the interior on a hot day when it kicked in!

Thanks mate, strange that I've had the car for 4 years and never noticed it doing it until very recently! I'll get it re-gassed and hope it returns to it's normal fridge like self!
