I think I'll start a conspiracy theory here - NASA deliberately lost their copy of this film.....because it was embarrassingly crap !
And in the version shown on Discovery, not helped by the inserted bits with some guy gushingly praising every second of it, and adverts every 10 minutes. I reckon it could have been edited down from 2 1/2 hours to about 25 minutes without losing any meaningful content.
And as for the soundtrack

Not impressed - but I expect that it was a victim of the times in which it was made. The picture quality was good but everything else did not stand the test of time very well.
What it lacked was a decent narrative and ANY interviews or voices from the actual personnel who took part in the missions - no astronauts, flight controllers, spaceship/rocket designers etc. As for the soundtrack - I think it was played on that other 70s icon, a Stylophone.
I gave up and watched the drama doc on ITV 1 which was surprisingly well made and moving. Is it available on DVD?
