Can I bring my UK Xbox over with me, and use my UK live account, and purchase games here?

I'm guessing yes I believe they are both PAL.

Yup - but only if you play the same games as me so that I can have some decent online time without uber lag.

I'm getting a 1Mb connection in the Villa, will that be sufficient for live?

I've got a 4mb and it can still be horrible.

Problem is that the connections here are rated on UAE hosted sites.

If you want to go out of the UAE, which you will do 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time, you get strangled by the proxy server and the drop off is miserable - I tested my line last week at a romping 900kb - not exactly 4mb!

Luckiliy I'm not paying a silly amou...... frown

That said - I've been online with some local guys witha couple of KSA players and it was spot on. EU isn't bad the US can be terrible - Asia isn't too bad as you would expect.

Got net tonight, christ it's crap.

Stunningly shocking, I'm sure my 56k dialup at home was quicker. No more multi-tab browsing then!

Yup - Did a number of tests tonight and never reached 1mb - UI have a 4mb line apparently.

Just remember - you, the consumer, are the last person they think about - the will ignore you, abuse you and completely disrespect you while smiling and taking lots of your money - welcome to the UAE.

Well i called up Etisalat last night as my connection keeps on dropping. The helpful response I got was that this was "normal". After explaining that this WASN'T normal behaviour they agreed to send an engineer out. That said my confidence in them actually solving anything isn't exactly high.

As for Live gaming, it's a complete nightmare for me at the moment!

I've pretty much given up on playing games like Gears online - it's simply pointless.

We've had no work email since Thursday, as our leased line went down. Can't even access it on webmail.

Etisalat will fix it, probably, at some point.
