259 cars involved in motorway pile-up in Germany

Now that's a pile-up and a half!

I wonder when we will see it on Road wars and just see like usual cars just ploughing into the back on one an other at 70mph+ even although there is already a massive pile of cars blocking the road!

I know our motor ways are bad but we usually break when we see smoke and fire ahead... Or rubber neck and cause an accident the other side of the road!

It can happen anywhere and should serve as a warning to those who regard motorways as a high speed travelator. Lack of due care and atention, as nearly always, is the problem. I see that it took place over 2 hours - I hope we will find out in due course what caused it.

Very heavy rainfall, stupid drivers too close and too fast, added to which a low lying sun blinding some people, all according to the local german news...

We were held up for an hour and a half on Sunday because of a two car pile up on the M5. With 259 cars involved they're probably still there.
