Hi guys,

I'm contemplating improving my current poor bike security and buying a decent D lock.
I have been looking at this one.....

What types of locks do you guys use and what would you recommend ?
I'm looking for a longer D lock so I can lock two bikes together if possible.

Thanks.

I used a Kryptonite New York 3000 D lock along with a Kryptonite cable through both wheels - cant remeber how much, think under 60 all in. I also use an ABUS cable lock through the back wheel and rear triangle - think it was only about 20 notes.

You want both a cable and a D though - a bottlejack wont get them through a cable and boltcutters wont get through a D.

Ideally, dont lock up anything you aren't willing to get nicked - I would never lock up my race bike if i couldn't see it, but will lock up my commuter and leave it while im at uni.

I use a Kryptonite lock, and highly recommend it. Also got some inserts that fill up the spaces in the lock to avoid prybars being used (Think they're called Bad Bones or something... they're red anyway)

Depending on what you have at the moment I too would recommend mixing and matching lock types.

Also make sure they are chained to something solid too.
