My radiator looks like it has had a leak. The frame looks in resonable condition (one of the bottom locating pins is missing but I can sort that). I have just phoned 2 companies in Essex to enquire on costs for re-core. I mentioned it was from a sherpa van and one co. asked me which model of sherpa? as price is either £95 or £170 (its odds on when I get there it will be the more expensive one). The other co. said £175-£195 plus the dreaded. I have read on here that £120 is the going rate. Couple of questions; which model of sherpa were they from and do I recall someone saying that they were fitted with an extra core by TVR? Can anyone recommend a good co. to re-core in the Essex, London, Kent Surrey etc. (south) area.

Hi Tony, when I had my rad recored it cost £180 cash (no VAT) so the second figure you mentioned sounds about right, as far as I know it is just a sherpa rad with 1 extra core as you already said. The sherpa rad and TVR rad look identical but the extra core makes the TVR rad a lot heavier!
Cheers.....Tony..

Have a glance at the above link on bridgdav post on there merky300 has a good explaination of the extra core etc. A core seems to be a coolant pipe way in the guts of the radiator between the cooling fins.

Having spent the last 20 plus years running a rad shop, tell whoever you choose to rebuild it to use aG&m core C1547B 3 row with pins & brackets, core will come with sides, some repairers will use a cheaper core and reuse your old sides, not as good, or strong. Also don,t mention tvr, tell them its off an old sherpa ambulance---- might come cheaper. Sorry can,t help you unless you fetch it to France. Good Kuck
