Anyone got any advice re disc pad options for a 95 Griff500. The car is currently only used for fast road use but I figure that whilst replacing standard stuff I should look at options. I can't afford to go balls out eight pot/ carbon ceramic stuff and I'm running standard Estorils so figure a vented/grooved disc of standard size together with Mintex M1144 pads might offer a slight improvement without too much extra expenditure? Any thoughts/experiences welcome.

Upgrading my 500s brakes at the w/e. Consensus of received wisdom was keep stock calipers and discs (at least for now given the amount of money that has left my account for this car lately - don't tell the Missus!), fit Goodridge braided hoses, Mintex 1144 pads and switch to DOT 5.1.

What the others said, Ferrodo DS2500 are the pad to have imho thumbup
I've tried countless others, and these are the only ones that don't cook up on track and give excellant braking charactoristics in normal road use.

As for brake upgrades, braided hoses are a must and whilst DOT5.1 is good, I'd go for a better race fluid if you like to drive hard smile
I run my original Esterils on track with R888's so i am limited for front brake upgrades, but went for TVR AP 4 pot calipers (as used on all T cars and Cerbs) and 283mm cossie discs up front. This size fits easily in the 15" rims. I've heard of some people getting 300mm discs to fit, but this leaves no tolerance for heat expansion imho.
Talk to Rich at Dulfords as he can provide you with callipers, discs and custom mounting brackets should you want to upgrade the front brakes smile

Ah, fantastic - already got the 283 mm Cossie discs (+ brackts for the OE callipers) in a box and bought them with a view on upgrading callipers later. smile

IMHO...
The 260mm disc is ok for use with road tyres, the EBC spotted one are pretty good as per Del's link. An upgraded pad like mintex/ferodo will stop you getting fade so quickly & the braided hoses will give your peddle a more firm feel, whilst you are at it put 5.1 fluid in.
This might be of use;

I changed my discs recently for EBC ones and I found this site to be helpful and of course the cheapest

I can second or third or fourth or whatever what DEL203 said.
The link he posted shows BB doing the same upgrade, well he's upgraded again since - having swapped his front wheels for a rear set - and I bought the kit in the thread.

It was about a 200% improvement on my 430 front brakes, but the calipers are also quite a bit bigger than on the early cars.
I also fitted braided hoses and dot5.1 fluid too and I really can't emphasise how much the whole shebang is improved.
