Ribbon cable?
Have a look under your steering wheel. Is the cable twisted, old and knackered?

It's more than likely to be the ribbon cable, but check all the fuses as well. Years ago I had the same problem, and eventually I found that an unrelated fuse had blown - I think it was the Cig lighter - and this was causing the wipers to come on all the time.

did some more digging around with this and I have found that the park switch inside the wiper motor does not seem to have anything that touches it? if I press it while the wipers are on they stop.Does anyone know what bit is missing something isnt there that should be there :/

Mine have started doing the same they work fine on the button go from occasional to slow to fast and stop but when you just give them the one push to wipe it works but they stp were ever they want?/ I can give a short push and they will then stop one side or the other? Is this the switch on the motor that plugs in ? What and were would I get one and what do I ask for? Do I have to take the whole motor out or can it be squezed in in place??

many thanks
