Just a sort of general insomnia-induced musing... how much do you have to pay to get a good 156? There's plenty below a grand in the classifieds, but am I right in assuming that's opening yourself up for financial suicide?
Also, how quick is the 2.0, in terms of 0-60 and top speed, roughly? And how is it on that and mpg compared to the 2.5?

- no more so than any other sub £1k car. Check the history & condition, some are getting nibbled by the tinworms, some owners don't care as much as others. I suspect at those prices some are being moved on in the knowledge big bills are pending, but some because the money's already been spent. Keys areas are suspension components, 156s munch through them, cambelts on the V6 for example, but have a surf around, there's plenty who've trod the roads ahead of you.0-60 in 8.3 and 134mph flat out.
We've got a 2001 156 2.0 Veloce, its a great car. Practical, reliable handles well and I love the way the Twin Sparks rev! Its my wifes car and she gets good MPG from it too.
My car is a 147 GTA and the 156 still feels quite perky in comparison.
As with all the Twin Sparks, keep an eye on the oil and make sure the cambelt is changed every 3yrs or 36k.
