Not in a 350i surprise surprise, but in a Group A SD1 racer (max revs 7500rpm!). Just bagged myself a copy of the the Rover V8 engine by David Hardcastle off E bay and reading all about it. Its a fine read

CastleSPORT run 2 SD1s in the group 1 touring cars and classic thunder series , one of which has 320 bhp from 3.5L , was built by John Eales originally, revved to over 8000 and does go "bang" occasionally but is still in use.

Thats the car that I first saw the Poly V drive on like the one on my 400, maybe theres more to come from my engine once its opened to check the cam!

I don't think I've ever used more than 4500 rpm!!, so that would be just tickover in the SD1 - I need to get out more, or at least get it on a track.

Ever driven one of those SD1 beasties then?

A Westie Seight thingy belonging to a garage down here was putting that sort of power out of 3.5 when I visited their RR the year before last

thats owt!

in street machine a few months ago, there was a cortina with a 3.6 rv8, punting out 700bhp without forced induction!
