mobile phone billing / direct debits
Discussion
Hello,
I switched network to the red one earlier this year. Since then I have not been able to see my bill onlline and have spoken to customer services many times to try to resolve the problem.
Luckily they can still take money from my account via direct debit, is this allowed without me seeing a bill first. For the first couple of months I managed to get the bill faxed to me but now CS swear they don't have a fax machine.....
On the same topic anyone know how to get out of a mobile contract early as I am truly fed up with them
Ben

Which network is it?
When I wanted out of my o2 contact (to get an iphone) I phoned customer services and via the automated menu system got through to the cancellations department. You can buy out your contract (you pay them the remaining months worth of line rental e.g. £25 per month line rental, 10 months left =£250).

Vodafone. I don't want to buy out of the contract, nor see why I should since the cause of my frustration is their doing. When I wanted out of my o2 contact (to get an iphone) I phoned customer services and via the automated menu system got through to the cancellations department. Why can't they set up online billing for you? Ought to be straight forward I'd have thought.
Have you tried their online forum for help (better than phoning them)?

The mods on there are usually pretty good at sorting problems.
(no affiliation to VF other than a reasonably happy customer)

I too moved to Vodafone a couple of months back. I too am unable to see online billing despite having asked over the phone and on the e-forum multiple times. However, at the moment I seem to be getting free paper billing, so I'm not as angry as I might be were this not the case. Their online services are, quite frankly, an absolute disgrace.

Well if you think you genuinely have a problem that vodaphone are unwilling to sort out (and is in breach of the contract) take it up with OFCOM.
unwilling is probably not the right word as everyone I have spoken to is very helpful but they have not fixed the problem. Had not thought of OFCOM but good shout.Ben
p.s. have tried the web forums as well.
Vodafone use a system called AUDDIS Automated Direct Debit Instructional System. One of the conditions of this is that should the amount be a variable amount then notice must be provided within ten working days of the bill leaving the account. If not the bank can actuall claw the money back for you.
Not that any of that helps you per se. I would call customer services and demand free paper billing until the situation is resolved. Tell them that once a month ten days before your bill is due that you will try the online system. Once you are able to see your bill you will contact them to remove the paper billing option.
Alternatively pay by invoice! I am an old fashioned fool, I get a paper bill and pay at my convenience (currently 4-6 time a year!)
