I'm looking to buy an Abarth Essesse - 160BHP as a daily runaround.

Firstly, any one who has one got any input?

Secondly, I have read somethere that there is a 200bhp version - Asseto Corse on it's way. The dealer says it's rubbish but been here before with delaers who want to sell you what they've got in stock instead of what's on the horizon.

I also heard today that here is a Limited editon Ferrari Abarth.

Anyone know anything about either of these?

The Assetto Corse is a limited run, track only model which wasn't put on general sale.

The Ferrari edition is a slightly made over Abarth with essesse upgrade, Sabelt racing seats, sports exhaust system and 430 Scuderia style stripes (unfortunately poorly made vinyl as opposed to the painted vesrion on the 430). It costs a whopping £24k plus if you can find a dealer to sell you one and they aren't supposed to be sold until the 1st December.

Cheers for the reply.

Do you reckon I should go for the Essesse version then.

I am a bit anal about these things but I don't want to buy a car only to have it superceded 6 months later by a newer limited edition.

There have only been a couple of official factory special editions - the opening edition for the Italian market and the 0-100 celebrating what would have been Carlo Abarth's 100 birthday. Neither car came to the UK market. The Ferrari edition was something done by Ferrari Spa and Fiat for Ferrari's European dealer network so are not Abarth special editions really. You should be pretty safe going for an essesse model. I don't know if Abarth will replace the current 1.4 turbo engine at some point with Fiat's latest generation of multiair engines. I should think that it's likely due to a need to keep reducing emissions figures but shouldn't imagine you'll see it any time soon.

Im thinking of getting an A500 in the next couple of months for having in town (I live in London). Im tempted by the extra horsepower of the Essesse version but not by the price (£2.5k) and the stiffened suspension for London potholes.
