I'd like to get hold of a pair of 8ohm tweeters and 4x 2ohm 130mm woofers
(to replace my E46 OEM speakers, keeping OEM amp)

Maplin used to do a decent range, but not any more it seems.

Can someone recommend a website?

Cheers

Why not just buy car audio speakers? They're dirt cheap anyway, and are designed specifically for the job?

Only snag there is that the OP states his woofers are 2 ohm... that's a rather oddball figure (most car speakers are 4 ohm, hifi speakers are generally 6 to 8) and if the original BMW amp has been designed to work with a 2 ohm speaker then it may not be able produce the necessary voltage to drive a higher-impedance speaker at decent levels of volume.

Buggered if I know where you'd find a 2 ohm speaker, though! wink

JBL GTo are often 2 ohm, as are many FLi, Pioneer etc speakers - just ahve aroot around the normal online shagout sites, or possibly halfrauds etc.

Cool, the GTOs look just the ticket. 2ohm tweeter no good though!

If an amp is stable down to 2ohms it will have no problem whatsoever driving an 8ohm speaker.

The lower the impedance rating of the driver the harder the amp has to work as more of the current is converted into sound by the driver.

You could always try Wilmslow Audio. If they haven't got what you need they should know of alternatives.

I know the amp would have no problem, but it would be inefficient and too quiet compared to the mid/tweeter.
