Well, it's been a strange old day here in Swissyland! Finally, the superleggera has gone and the Z4M Coupe has arrived. I have very mixed feelings really, I've loved the SL, the acceleration, the NOISE, the looks and I'm really going to miss tunnel blasting - did I mention the NOISE... just come back from a trip to Monza and on track it was a truly awesome experience! However, this affair was not the lasting kind and I realised early on that it was never going to be an everyday proposition so, after much contemplation and more test driving than EVO, we are ushering in the era of the Z4MC. Actually, my O/H has somewhat overshadowed me with his most recent purchase, nonetheless, my first impressions are very favourable and I think it's the sort of car which can teach me a lot - I pushed on up a twisty road and it was quite a lairy experience after the much heavier, solid feel of the 4wd SL with carbon ceramic brakes! Pedals are differently spaced too so I need to spend some time with my new companion. However, I reckon we'll have some fun together! Here's some pics:

thumbup Looks great Gilly!

But where's the SL - has it been lost in transit? I don't see it sitting outside my front door with the keys in my hand. winkhehe

Left the SL sitting in the car park of Lambo St Gallen weeping Now looking for a good home, answers to the name of Jeremy/Jezza (as you know we name our cars) so what more could you want - think you know it was the TG car on 'greatest driving roads' - so, Clarkson and one careful lady owner! biggrin

You will enjoy the Z4M Coupe, it's a real hoot! smile

But god does it look a bit crap (and I'm always admiring mine) next to the Lambo frown

I think it looks ok next to a Lambo, but if I'm honest I would rather have the Superleggera smile

Actually, I think it's a bit unfair to compare it to a Lamborghini, particularly the SV - even the SL looked a bit ordinary when parked next to it.

On the other hand, when I parked the Z4 in the multi-storey at my local supermarket today, it looked really special - all squat and purposeful next to all the other shopmobilia that was sitting there. So from my perspective, I've had a really good first day with it - gone to all the places I could never take the SL - could get the shopping into the boot and then had a really good blat down a nice mountain road and a nice series of hairpins on the way home - may have scared the frozen peas a bit, but it was worth it!

I know what you mean. We got back at the weekend from a two week, 3000 mile holiday down through France and Italy in mine. Didn't see another Z4 Coupe, let alone another Z4MC, during the whole trip. So I agree - by no means as special as the Lambo, but a pretty special car by any normal measure. And sufficiently practical and sensible to take the two of us (and a fortnight's luggage) in comfort over long distances at significant speed and with big smiles.

The SV is something else - the noise when you accelerate in 1st...nuts We didn't mean to buy it, but by the time we'd both driven it we couldn't help ourselves. Ironically, the Z4MC was part of our scheme to try and not spend so much money on cars... hey ho!

Anyway, as I said, I'm not out to compare the Lambo with the Z4 - it would be very unfair, but I think the Z4 is a brilliant car - it demands far more attention to driving detail than the SL which, as I want to hone my track driving skills, is exactly what I want.
