Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a 1994 850 T5.
I've already grown quite attached to it, she's got 87k on the clock (which i understand is nothing for these cars) Full Volvo service history and 11months MOT to boot.

I love the way it drives and feels, very solid and safe compared to the normal cars for a teenager, and the performance is exceptional.

For a 15 year old car, its great to have some modern luxury features such as the decent sound system, heated leather seats ( phwwooarr ).

I do get some ribbing from my mates, being 19 and driving a ' grandfather clock ' but taking them out for a spin shuts em up haha .

thanks for reading this waffle

Nice car there! Don't worry about your mates, they still have time to learn what a 2.3 high pressure tubro feels like biggrin

Im 19 aswell and just changed from a V70 tdi to a V70R. CIt can be seen in 'Best pic of your Volvo'.

Get yours on there.

Looks good, I've recently bought a '97 850 T5 Estate with 176k on it but still drives very well indeed and amazingly almost everything still works!

A really great everyday car and most other people have no idea how fast it actually is! laugh

how in this world do you afford the insurance?... also doesn't the MPG make you cry?

Super jealous, I could easily afford to buy and run one but it just doesn't make sense with the potential for serious outlay if anything went wrong. (Im 22 if that makes any difference)

Hey JamesNotJim

I am insured on my own (with 2 years no claims) with the AA third party fire and theft, paying monthly this is comes to £2100 ( eye watering i know ) But i paid a £400 pound deposit at the start so my monthly payments are a much more manageable £150. Yes the insurance is alot, but it was still cheaper than a peugeot 306 GTI 6, and other hot hatches. I love my quirky Q-cars so i dont mind paying the insurance.

The MPG, i know people who moan and whine that their ford fiesta / saxo ' Drinks ' petrol, and think im crazy for having this car. But i achieve a Solid 28 Mpg overall, and i dont particularly drive for economy. ( Keeping it well serviced, and things like the MAF sensor help aswell, along with tyre pressures e.t.c) i try not to look too much at the Mpg gauge as i find you end up obsessed with trying to up your Mpg, instead i leave it on miles till empty, and i'll usually get around 380-400 miles

If your thinking of getting one mate, bide your time and wait for a gooden, there's plenty of T5's out there, but as allways go with your gut feeling. I was lucky to buy one with full volvo service history and a stack of papers, and all i've had to do so far was replace discs and pads all round ( £150 from eurocarparts).

Get one! you'll love it.

Not bad MPG wise then.
Have had two T5's and a few other volvos in the family since a child, loved them ever since. My problem is I don't have any NCB, company car you see. Might be worth looking at as a weekend weapon though. smile
