Caged are going to put one in for me over winter....when I replaced the outriggers that are fubar ...more eff'n expense

I've been deliberating for months what to do with mine, Whether to turn it into a full Track car with Full Cage etc or keep it standish and buy a full blown track car as well.



If I was to go the full hog with it like you have would defo get full cage.

Keep it standard..ish?!? I thought you stripped it all out?

Seriously tho (had a slight off at Combe in November that, despite no damage to me or car, sorta made me realise that I ain't indestructable and neither is the car), I do like the "Caged" cage, as they do it in such a way that you can have a traditional looking roll hoop, and a full roll cage that just bolts to it for track days/racing.
The only downside is they need to weld mounting plates to the outriggers for it, and I ain't got any left to weld to

Yeah but all that can go back in, once you start cutting into the body and welding/bolting to the chassis it's hardcore time.
I like the cage they used for the Tuscan Racers but with a removable hoop so you can still get the roof on.

Yep thats the kiddie They also fitted Andy Race' rollcage

As you can see from the pics of that Ocean Haze Griff cage (miss mine ) everything forward of the rear hoop slots into tube clamps for easy removal.
Rear hoop connects to outriggers next to the seat belt reel and the forward section comes down on front of the dash and follows the door jamb to the floor and the weld a plate to the outrigger in this locationfor the mounting plate - all easily hidden by the carpet should you want to remove.

Once fitted (welded in) looks like the only removable bits are the side impact bars and the bar that runs across top windscreen, so the bolts that connect to the rear hoop are redundant or am I looking at it wrong.

Is this a kit you can fit yourself (would be surprised as all Griffs are different) or do they need your car for specs?

If you look at the pic again you'll see it is made up of six sections,
1x Rear hoop and diagonal bracing - this bolts to chassis outriggers and above the diff.
2x side impact bars with tube clamp each end.
2x inverted "L" sections that "bolt" to the chassis outriggers in the footwell( a bolting plate is welded to the chassis outrigger here, and tube clamps to rear hoop.
1x cross rail at the top of the screen with tube clamp each end .

As you say all tivs differ, so you leave the car with them for a week and the cage is made bespoke to your car.

And if you are like Andy and your noggin stick out the roof, that additional small hoop Andy has, is also removable so you can get the roof on. Although, if you are a short arse like me, you don't need it

Looks like there isn't much room for a be-helmeted bonce given the proximity of the rear uprights to the head restraints.

Around 1K unpainted but fitted, maybe we could get a deal if a few of us want one.

I'm also going to try the lads from Blackpool who did PW 5000 M as they do race/track spec cars.

IMHO, I'd leave your car standard (ish) and get a track car. That way you can develop the track car as far as you want/need to which included a multi-point cage, without making your road car too much of a compromise.

The Mrs & I have a track car with a multi-point Andy Robinson Race Cars cage (12 point) and it's a work of art. I hope we never have the need for it though!
