So HSBC have been fined £3m by the Government for losing personal data - ok, fair enough!

However, didn't the Government lose all the details of every family with a child last year? If so, what does the Government owe us if the above figure is calculated pro-rata? I'm thinking rather a lot!

As always, the Government (who make laws) does precious little to adhere to them or be accountable to them!

What's the point of passing funds from a fine from one govt department to another govt department?

Accountability and community service / jail for senior civil servants however....

That, and the fact that it would be a pointless exercise, since the Government havent got any money to pay the fine anyway!
