im itching to get it back together mark, just wish the bodyshop had pulled their finger out and done it a lot sooner. they could have easily got it ready for me one month ago. they just love to string things out.

should be back with me next week for a major assembly of interior/headlining/decats, waxoil etc. then mot time. fingers crossed

In regards to the waxoil. I got it done when I bought m cerb two years ago. I wish I had not bothered really. It is of little consequence to me now as everything is being replaced/blasted etc but I think if you can see the paint on the chassis you can keep an eye on the condition of the chassis. Also when they sprayed the waxoil on they got it on everything! Things like the dampers, brake lines, heat shield etc got covered in it completely unecessarily and was a bugger to get off. I also think that unless the chassis is perfect to start with all it will do is cover up rust and allow it to fester and get worse.

I have the clear waxoyl with trigger spray that screws on the tin. I'm not going to plaster it over everything im just going to prep the outriggers the best i can and then give them a dusting to allow water to run off. with the clear waxoyl i should be able to see the chassis and any rust that may pop through.

I did not realise there was clear waxoil, that probably sounds a good compromise.

yeah halfrauds sell in a 5 litre tin, black or clear, £21.99 and about £7 for the sprayer. its not like your usual black tar mucky waxoyl that we are all used to.

this stuff is like liquid wax.(need to place the tin in a warm bath to soften the stuff prior to spraying)

Thinking about it I might put some on the top of the outriggers before I put the body on.

its chianti starmist. (it looks burgundy in the pics but its sort of deep plum, but turns a lot more purple in direct sunlight and almost black at night)

Mark i would stonechip over the pwedercoat and then waxoyl it (only the outrigger sections) give it plenty thickness from the metal so it lasts yonks

its like a thick paint in a bottle, you attach a special compressed air fed gun to the top of bottle and spray it on. its supposed to be hard wearing( a lot of my mates use it on their rally cars and swear by it.)

cheers guys, im down there later today to help speed things along and put the boot and bonnet back on myself.
it should make him feel guilty and he may try and put my door back on.

AUto glass are coming tuesday to install my windscreen. then if its ready ill take it for mot.

only bad news so far is, D&C trim havent got and cant get my chianti coloured carpet to do me 2 front mats, i only needed one but though i may aswell have 2 done to colour match but i gues not, they are in the post back to me. I do have similar coloured sub woofer carpet which i gace be glueing over a suitable cut bit of carpet underlay but this has no edging.

back to the drawing board for me.

the only option is to have a different colour carpet set. but funds do not allow at the moment.

I plastered the pads the body sits on with copper grease too, if you have to adjust the position it helps as well as rust proofing. I also drilled a hole in my outriggers and squirted a few pumps of oil in, then tacked the hole back up.
