Playstation 3 in different countries...

Hi guys,

This is more of a technical question as appose to a general gaming one. If say I bought a Playstation 3 from China, USA or any other places outside of Europe, would they work in the UK?

Would the UK games work on a Chinese console?

Games are region free i.e any will work on any system. Not so sure about blue ray movies though.

Blueray movies have the option to be region encoded. I bought a HK PS3 when they first came out and had no issues till this year when Slumdog Millionaire got region encoded and would not run on my HK PS3.

Aaah... So if I had a Playstation 3 from China/Hong Kong, I can still play games I buy in this country?

yes, as everyone else has said the games are all region free. With Blueray movies it is hit and miss, most are region free but some of the latest ones coming out are starting to appear region locked.

The machine itself is also pretty "region free" too as the only thing you will need to play an import console is a simple uk 3 prong kettle lead to get the right plug. the power convertor is built in.
