VW Golf GTI Turbo Niggles.

The temperature gauge on my car warms up normally(90oc) and relatively quickly,however when accelerating to speeds 50mph+ the gauge will sometimes return to 0oc and remain there for periods of time before returning back to where it should be. Initially I changed the thermostat thinking that this was the cause but still no luck.
Since then I have had a new water pump fitted when the cam belt was replaced and the problem still persists,any ideas?

Either the thermostat or the temp sender.

I'd say the temp sender. Cheap and easy replacement.

Or a break in the wiring soomwhere in the loom..
