BOOT LID ALIGNMENT

I have tried several times now to get the boot lid aligned but whatever I try it seems to make it worse rather than better. The other panels on my griff are really good but unfortunately the boot lid isn't and this is the panel that really stands out if not aligned well. Does anyone know any tricks to getting it right?!

Presume you've been trying with the bolts or packing the hinges for height adjustment.

Have you tried small adjustment with a large adjustable spanner clamped on the pivot arms ?

Misaligned Fore/Aft? Left/Right? I recently shimmed out the LH stays because when the lid was fully opened it would chafe the bodywork.

where is the gap or problem.. is it a level issue or gap issue... My lid's not good... on the back joint (just above the number plate) it goes from 5mm at one side to more like 10mm at the other.. .nothing you can do as by the top it's spot on (or even a bit the other way).. as you can get twist in the lids....
All you can do is get the best average by setting up and shimming... Or get a new lid but this may not solve the issue... the problem could be in the boot opening and a slight twist in the back end!! The joys of GRP

I have tried all your suggestions and I think its got a slight twist. Not too bad on dark coloured griffs but noticable on mine. Think I'll have to live with it.

Not only do i have a boot lid issue, been advised it could be due to left side being raised by the boot stay ?, but i also have doors that sit slightly proud of te car.

Is it aso easy to re sit the doors ? or is that also a nightmare ?

Doors are quite easy to re-jig.. the hindges are shimmed and adjustable on height and angle.. and the catch plates will give you some movement at the other end... Mask everthing up if your bothered about your paint... but again here... if people have used them to push on when getting out of the car.. they can twist... When I was looking for a car I did see one drivers door about 3/4" out at the bottom.. the rest of the fit was fine so for sure it had bent...

A guy in the club I know has a Chimp.. .he left it one day in the sun and when he got back to it, he could not open the doors.. they had expanded and jammed solid.. so it does keep moveing this stuff.. .He had to get some cold water to cool it off before he could get in!!!
