so if you have a morgage they will pay your interest only. Fair enough no point in chucking people out of homes but tax payers shouldnt pay capital.
but! they pay an average rate at the mo which is:
6.08%!!
so if you have anything under that rate you make a nice tidy profit.
and you wonder why taxes are so high...

so if I got made redundant with say £50k payoff I could use that to chip £50k off for mortgage plus my few grand of savings and then get 6% off the state for 6 months while paying 1.5% !?!?
yes, I know I have to live for 6 months on the dole dosh

Surprisingly difficult to get by on when when your used to living off a certain amount.
I was laid off from work in Jan this year, i went to sign on for the first time in my life, they wanted to know the ins and outs of a cats asshole before they would give me any sort of money. They even took my wifes student loan as an income!! They decided i should live on the sum of £62 a week!! that is me, mrs b
dly and 2 little b
dlys
They said they would look at paying the intrest on my mortgage after 13 weeks!
What i dont get is you hear these stories of people saying 'i need to get a job earning 30k a year before i will come off the dole' i am sure if i was a single lesbian turbun wearing 3 legged troglidite i would be laughing!! ok maybe not!!
Sorry rant over.

Sell your house and stop sponging off everyone else.
Not exactly rocket science.
Have assets? You can sell them and survive.

k you - I've worked ever since leaving university, and never claimed any kind of benefits. (Didn't even get a grant, and paid my own way through uni!) I've worked damn hard to get the things I have, and haven't even got any equity in the house, thanks to this f
king government.I drive an 8 year old car, and have a modest terraced house, and have nothing else of any value, certainly no savings or investments.
As a single bloke, I don't stand a chance of getting a council house, and don't have anywhere else to go.
Why souldn't I be entitled to a bit of help when some s
t of a company decides they want to cut costs because the government and the banking system have f
ked up the economy. It's not as though I don't want to work - I've only been out of work for a few weeks, and i'm already bored s
tless. When I am working, why should I pay for millions of immigrants, but when I'm in danger of losing the roof over my head,be entitled to nothing.

Quite agree, however, the problem I have is that with the qualifications and experience I have, no one will touch me for a low paid job in the IT industry, because they feel that I will be off as soon as I get something better. (which is probably quite true.)Also, for those who feel you should take whatever job is up for grabs, would you be prepared to take a circa £30k pay cut? I certainly couldn't live on the minimum wage these days!

My point was, you have assets. You can sell them and survive quite happily.
You might not be cash rich but you have tangible wealth. Why should that be ignored when there are people who don't own their own property.
You possess the means to support yourself WITHOUT government assistance, simply by selling something you already possess.
You might not like the idea, but, frankly, you're not really in a position to take the high ground.
The last time I was out of work, I had to sell my car as I couldn't afford it. By your logic I should have been entitled to a payout to keep it on the road.
Sell the house, then rent somewhere and if you don't have enough money to keep your family sheltered and fed, THEN come back and complain.

Won't pay it for me, I'm single, unmarried, and don't have any savings, and about 7k of credit card and overdraft debts. Will be getting about 12k in redundancy when the company can be arsed to pay me it!
Where have I gone wrong? (This is a serious request!)
they should give it you - certainly seems a complex world benefits and what you get seems to change depending on who u talk to. what have they said? theres loads of dedicated websites / companies whos sole aim is to get you benefits - v annoying if its sponging scum but ok if u have genuine reason - sometimes life shafts you and a bit of temp help works out well for everyone in the long term.Where have I gone wrong?
